WILLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
October 17, 2012 Meeting Minutes
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:08 pm.
Roll Call: Present: P. Andersen, K. Demers, R. Shabot, M. Drobney, E.Brand;
E. Brand was seated for P. Pribula on a motion by KD/BS. Unanimous.
C. Jordan arrived later at 7:15 pm.
Approval of Minutes: Minutes from September 19, 2012 meeting were approved on a motion by KD/BS. 2 ayes. PA, MD, EB abstained.
Present to Speak: John Patton of Willington expressed his concerns about the content of the letter that the Conservation Commission sent to the Connecticut Siting Council regarding the New Cingular Wireless application.
Finance: C. Jordan reported that the Conservation Commission’s CIP request was submitted on time.
Old Business
FRP-DS: P. Andersen reported that one of the bridges on Taylor Pond Trail was in need of repair. He will work on installing a new lexan shield on kiosk. M. Drobney has wood for and can contact J. J. Mottes to deliver concrete benches and table.
P. Andersen will contact members about possible dates to work on these projects.
Knowlton Preserve: Trail still needs to be blazed with paint. Connwood continues to work on management plan- due by end of December.
Ridgeview Subdivision: Was on PZC agenda for 10/16/12 mtg. No report.
Love’s Travel Stop: ZBA denied variance for application ZBA2012-6.
- Collaborative Organizations: No reports.
- Connecticut Siting Council/Docket #429: CC letter dated 10/1/12 was submitted to CT Siting Council and recorded during PH on 10/11/12.
New Business
- Communications: None
- WINCOG Open Space Map: C. Jordan reported that Michael Cipriano from WINCOG updated Willington’s Open Space Map to include recent open space acquisitions and was able to add detailed shapes of easement areas from original June 2000 map. This was submitted to the State. She will work with him to provide deeds and maps of other easement areas that the Town approved after June 2000 so the Open Space Map will be up to date.
- CC Website- members discussed reviewing and updating site. Information to be updated can be sent to Tish at TOB.
